1987 was our first full year at the new pitch in Blackhawk Park. We hosted the Bedlinog, Wales touring side in May.  Although thumped by Bedlinog,  it was a great event.  Nothing like a Welsh touring side for ending a season with style.  In June, a hall of fame was created and Mike McMurry was inducted as the first member.  Unfortunately, the hall of fame thing kind of died in 1987 as well.  The Dubuque game in June marked the last game played on the baseball diamond that occupied part of the pitch - the team sodded that end of the pitch after the season. The preseason annual ski trip ended when Julius Montgomery won a plaster suit and free bed in the hospital.  In association with that event a special salute to Joe Kelly who bestowed the very 1st dick tag ever.  Julius was the unwilling recipient in answer to the trivia question, "Who was the 1st ever tagged skin to skin."  That's right boys and girls - it all started right here.  No tag backs.

Awards......MVP-Greg Parentice, Rookie-Shawn McGuire, Improved Forward-Florida Steve Johnson, Improved Back-Tom Radcliff, Nigel-Jack Canciamille.
