The year was not a highlight for continuity on game day performance and it showed both spring and fall with close losses to tough opponents and close wins against terrible opponents. With the exception of Division II league matches in the fall, Rockford was in every game up to the end. The league matches were never close, and the Southside Irish delivered the hardest loss by winning despite traveling with 13. Of course we gave them Curt White, who scored 20 with his boot, and Robbie McMillon, who anchored their back row. Whoops. Springfield, playing Division I ball in the WRFU out of Missouri, was lucky to escape with a win.
The launching of the Midwest Whorefest (in 2 years to be Luck of the Draw) on Memorial Day was far from momentous, but 4 teams did have a great time. Doug "Kermit" Wallace, in the midst of a pretty good day, broke his leg and ended his career. His tag from Greg Parentice right before loading onto the ambulance has to rank in the top 10 of tags.
Award winners for the year....MVP-Jeff Erickson, Rookie-Todd Borgialli, Nigel-Tom Woolley, Eric Morgan-Dick Sturm, Improved Back-Paul Erickson, Improved Forward-Ken Carlson.
Dues went up to $55. The increase from $45 covered an increase in team liability insurance, covers the PFC dues ($12 alone). CIPP dues increased to $11 for the year and must be paid by the player.
